Agriculture, forestry and fisheries statistics

The important role of the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors especially compared to the industrial sectors, have been often underestimated. E.g. in the European Union, agriculture covers approx. 50% of the territory and accounts for roughly 40% of the EU budget.

Agriculture, forestry and fisheries have strong environmental impacts on soil, water, air and the planet's biodiversity, in "producing" enough food for a still rising world population.
